Christmas is a wonderful time of year; helping Father Christmas is great fun and really magical but shopping for friends and family can be frustrating and exhausting…
There is a well know expression “too many cooks in the kitchen” it suggests that maybe a collective gathering of chef’s would see things getting a little hot in there. Well we know our chef’s and know that they are a happy bunch, but in the interest of keeping things sweet for our most recent LFH Head Chef brain storming day we met in someone else’s kitchen. Namely, Hugh Fearnley- Whittingstalls River Cottage HQ.
The October half term is a welcome reprieve in the longest term. Everyone has adjusted to the new routine of school, after school activities and rushing madly through Monday to Friday and just when you need it, there is a chance to catch your breath.
Happy family holidays with babies and toddlers; pack their little Trunki’s and enjoy a family holiday!
The arrival of your first child brings many wonderful new experiences to your life, you will be amazed by how much love you feel for this tiny person and your new- found ability to care for another human being.
Life will change after you become a family, it will be an incredible journey and there will be lots of firsts, like your first holiday as a family.
As the long summer holiday unfolds, at Luxury Family Hotels we look forward to welcoming lots of families and helping to create lots of happy summer memories.
Our role in the summer holiday mix is quite short, maybe a week at the most and of course we have lots of things to keep children of every age entertained for hours on end. The weeks at home might not seem quite so easy to fill!
We know how special all our mums are to us, and at Luxury Family Hotels we celebrate MUMS everywhere!
So whether you’re a working mum, a stay-at-home mum, a single mum or a soon-to-be-mum – or a combination of some of those – just putting your feet up after a long day, sitting down after supper with a glass of wine, having a relaxing soak in the bath or finishing your book, all seem a million miles away.
And taking time out for a weekend break seems almost impossible. But Luxury Family Hotels has the perfect solution.
Christmas is quite possibly our childcare teams' favourite time of year, with all the fun to be had making Christmas decorations and other seasonal items that kids can take home with them and keep as a souvenir of their stay. The Moonfleet Manor team have shared their top five Christmas crafts to try at home with your children – all are simple and inexpensive, but may require some parental supervision, depending on the child.
Creating your own wreath is a lovely way to kick off the festive season and the finished product is sure to be the centrepiece of your Christmas decorations. It's also a great activity for kids to get involved with, from finding the bits and bobs you need to designing how it will look and putting it all together.
In our new video, Eliza, our head gardener at Woolley Grange in Wiltshire, shows you how to make a gorgeous Christmas wreath using natural elements entirely from the hotel gardens (you can buy anything you can’t find from florists or online).
Few could resist the lure of a relaxing Christmas in a welcoming country house atmosphere, sipping mulled wine and hot chocolate with marshmallows around the fireplace while listening for the tinkle of sleigh bells out in the crisp winter’s night…
But children can often be surprisingly resistant to spending certain special times of year, especially Christmas, away from home. Older kids might think they’re missing out on social events, while younger ones might be anxious that Santa won’t know where to bring their presents.
Of course, once you’re in your destination, whether it’s Granny’s house or a Luxury Family Hotel, all of those worries will evaporate as the children explore their new surroundings and the spirit of Christmas takes hold. But there are ways to get them used to the idea of being away for the festive period.
