A New Forest Adventure with Kids
Produced by the New Forest National Park Authority and launched with the help of pupils at Hythe Primary School, Furzley's New Forest Adventure is a picture book and online game that encourages children to consider the most environmentally-friendly ways to explore this lovely area, including by bike and on foot.
Our New Park Manor Hotel is in the heart of the National Park, and as well as free bike loan from Easter 2016, it has a host of fairly flat cycle paths right on its doorstep. Our friendly staff will happily recommend local child-friendly and walking routes, which include the Waverley Wander.
You can buy a copy of the Furzley book at the New Forest Centre in Lyndhurst or play the game online. The New Forest Centre also has a free museum with displays and hands-on activities to do with the National Park, including the Family Fun Tree interactive exhibit - a vast walk-through oak with flaps that lift to reveal creepy crawlies and animal tracks. Among the things you will learn here are why ponies are kept in the Forest - and why you shouldn’t feed them.
And the New Forest National Park Authority website lists local events, as well as offering a downloadable pocket guide and more information about walks, cycle rides and its work.
