Beach Cleans at the Polurrian Bay Hotel, Cornwall – Get Involved!
Our property on the Lizard Peninsula takes its commitment to the local landscape very seriously, and this of course includes our very own Polurrian Beach (Mullion). Once a month, we support the Friends of Polurrian Beach's cleans by taking responsibility for the disposal and transport of the litter collected, and by provided refreshments and cakes for its volunteers and any other helpers, including our own guests.
Founded in early 2016 with both our support and that of the Marine Conservation Society (www.mcsuk.org) and Friends of Poldhu Beach, Friends of Polurrian Beach is a group of passionate volunteers who want to keep the beach clean, safe and beautiful for both humans and wildlife
Monthly beach cleans, which run through the year and take about an hour, are open to locals and to holiday-makers, and are a great way to put something back into your seaside break. There are also emergency winter cleans after a severe storm has brought in fishing industry debris and litter.
Helping clean a beach while on holiday or even just picking up some debris as you got for a walk is a great way to help the environment and especially to reinforce to children the importance of not littering, of recycling, and of caring for wildlife and the ocean.
