Hurray for half term!
The October half term is a welcome reprieve in the longest term. Everyone has adjusted to the new routine of school, after school activities and rushing madly through Monday to Friday and just when you need it, there is a chance to catch your breath.
Entertaining your tribe through October half term can be challenging, there may be lovely bright crisp days, perfect for walks through leaves that crackle and crunch underfoot and searching for conkers that are bright and shiny; but there could also be cold, damp, ever shortening days that are just a bit trickier to fill.
Taking a UK October half term break will probably offer a combination of weather, take whatever comes and enjoy lots of different options to have fun as a family.
Luxury Family Hotels are super prepared for October half term; it is one of our favourite holidays. The Den’s have been busy embracing Halloween and you will find plenty of ‘spooktacular’ activities happening to entertain all ages.
At Woolley Grange the Den will have Halloween themed activities every day, we love the sound of “creepy crawly cooking”. Families can enjoy a ramble with hotel dog Rex, archery or mocktail making, just a few of the family activities during half term. Click here to read the full list
If you are visiting Moonfleet Manor schedule a visit to Corfe Castle for Halloween fun, explore the spooky All Hallows family quest and find the missing pumpkins or tackle the Teddy Bear zip Wire. The Den will also have a full program of activities and the Jurassic coast is a must whatever the weather.
New Park Manor have done the hard work for you and created a list of their favourite things to do in the New Forest during October half term. Happy Halloween at Paultons Park sounds like lots of fun for little ones and maybe not so little ones! The Den team have created some exciting activities too, ensuring parents have time to do, well, nothing hopefully.
If you are staying at Fowey Hall the Eden Project has a host of events during October half term, after a busy day with mini beasts and little monsters you can return to the hotel to enjoy a lovely relaxing evening, maybe even with a little pampering spa time thrown in?
The Ickworth looks truly stunning in the autumn, on crisp days explore the 1,800 acres of estate on foot or by bike, this is the place to come to run off steam and have plenty of outdoor fun over half term. A visit is not complete without taking time to explore Ickworth House, learn the history of the Hervey family or take the autumn trail and discover the bats and more that call Ickworth home.
With so much going on at our hotels or nearby in some of the UK’s most lovely locations and with plenty of opportunities for everyone to relax and unwind too, the hardest thing you have to do is choose where to go!
Happy half term!
