Kid-friendly Dining at New Park Manor, Hampshire
With the arrival of new head chef Jamie Holmes and new food and beverage manager Tom Perriman at our family-friendly hotel in the New Forest, it was time for a revamp of the children’s menu. General manager Lauren McCann tells us more.
‘Seeing the opportunity to start from scratch and really elevate our children’s food offering, we put our heads together – with Jamie and I using our experiences of being parents ourselves – to create a kids’ menu that works on several different levels,’ explained Lauren.
‘Of course, it needs to tick the right boxes for parents by featuring high-quality, fresh, nutritious dishes, but they also need to sound fun and appealing to kids – hence names such as Ping Pong Fishcakes.
‘And then, as many families stay at New Park Manor for several days, it was important to have a wide variety of dishes to choose from. So many kids’ menus are limited to two or three dishes that kids see everywhere.
‘And we wanted to put as much care and attention into the presentation of dishes as for grown-ups. Dishes need to look amazing in general, and older kids’ portions need to look like grown-up restaurant dishes.
‘We’re really happy with what we’ve achieved but the proof of the pudding is in the eating. And we’ve had great feedback – and even consistently have kids who can’t choose what to have because there are so many dishes they want to try!’
