Learn Mindfulness at Woolley Grange – and Pass It On to Your Kids!
Christmas is an especially busy time of year, not least for parents, and it’s all too easy to come out the other end feeling frazzled. Which is where the new mindfulness sessions at our Wiltshire hotel come in.
Mindfulness combines relaxed attention and acceptance. The first means simply being focused on what you’re doing but not in a forced way, and learning to bring yourself back from distractions to your current reality. Acceptance is about taking your experience as it is – not thinking about or analysing/judging it. It means fully accepting the present moment.
The results are dramatic: expect reduced stress levels, increased relaxation and improved sleep, plus greater productivity, focus and creativity, and better overall moods and relationships with others – including our kids.
And as calmer, more thoughtful parents, we can also pass mindfulness onto our children, and in doing so help them to have control over their attention levels, to exercise emotional self-control and to have greater insight into their own reactions to external events. One easy way to introduce children to mindfulness is during family walks, when you can encourage them to notice things they haven’t picked up on before – sights but also sounds and smells.
The course runs for six weeks on Wednesday evenings from 22 February 2017 and is led by Michael Townsend Williams, a mindful productivity, mindfulness and yoga tutor and author who believes that the world needs to calm down – and that we would all get a lot more done if we did!
Sign up for it for yourself – and perhaps buy one as a Christmas present for a friend in need of a bit of TLC. The course costs £150 for the six weeks plus guided recordings and a workbook, and there’s a £20 discount if you pay before the end of 2016.
There’s also a FREE Mindfulness Taster session at the hotel on the evening of 25 January.
