The Ickworth Named Ultimate Family Hotel by the Sunday Times
In a wonderful write-up, the Times’ reviewer described staying here with children as “miraculous. Tightly wound kids sense the space and suddenly seem to grow. Ours swam a length and rode a bike without stabilisers for the first time – then cried when it was time to go home.”
New Park Manor in Hampshire also features among the Times’ 10 Ultimate Family Hotels, with the writer stating: “Catering for kids without turning the whole place into a crèche is an art, and the Luxury Family Hotels group has mastered it.”
Of course, we don’t like reducing our visitors to tears, even if it is for all the right reasons – but we have a feeling that we’ll be welcoming these children back to one of our hotels before too long. In the meantime, we thought it was time to share the secrets of our success when it comes to pleasing all the family.
• Offer flexibility. Parents who come to Luxury Family Hotels tend to want to spend quality time with the kids but also to grab some much-earned 'me' or 'us' time. We make that possible by giving families the choice of eating together or apart (with the aid of baby-listening devices), free kids’ club sessions, a spa that also happens to be child-friendly, and even Sunday lie-ins for parents!
• Create stylish decor that’s child-friendly and relaxing too. The two can and do co-exist, as our designer Carole Taylor makes clear in this interview.
• Make space. Our hotels have masses of room indoors and out, whether you want to swim, cycle or simply run around and explore.
• Be thoughtful. Truly family-friendly hotels take much of the stress out of planning and going on a family break by providing all the amenities parents will need (we’ll ask you about your requirements at the time of booking).
