Where to Ice-skate Near Luxury Family Hotels
There’s nothing quite like a spin on an ice-rink to get you in the festive mood or to work off some of those Christmas calories. We’ve rounded up the loveliest rinks handy for our child-friendly hotels, where you’ll be welcomed back in from the cold with a hot chocolate or glass of mulled wine around our cosy log fires.

Just 20 minutes from Woolley Grange Hotel in Bradford-on-Avon, the beautiful city of Bath goes all out for Christmas with a winter ice rink in Victoria Park in the city centre. Penguin or seal kids’ skate-aids can be booked online in advance, and there’s food and drink at hand including wood-fired pizzas and loaded fries. And don’t miss the seasonal glow-in-the-dark mini golf nearby (combined tickets available).
At-Bristol Christmas Ice Rink and Festive Fair, until 3 Jan 2017
Bristol’s glittering rink, half an hour from Thornbury Castle Hotel, takes place under the giant bauble of the At-Bristol Planetarium and includes special sessions for under-8s with their grown-ups. Two-child banana skate-aids are available, and other festive fun includes the Skyview observation wheel and food stalls.
Eden Project, until 19 Feb 2017
The indoor ice-rink at Cornwall’s eco visitor attraction is less than 20 minutes from Fowey Hall Hotel and also handy for those heading further south to the Polurrian Bay Hotel. Part of the Eden Project’s winter festival, it features penguin skate-aids (pre-bookable) and hosts parent and toddler ice-play sessions (non-skating) and Chilly Juniors sessions with races and games on selected Sundays.

The seaside town just 10 minutes’ drive from our Moonfleet Manor Hotel is hosting its first-ever ice rink for Christmas 2016. You can get joint tickets to skate and to visit Santa in his grotto, and there’s great shopping and promenade or harbour walks to be done before or afterwards.

Just over half an hour from New Park Manor Hotel, the seaside town’s ice rink in the Lower Gardens is accompanied by an après-skate chalet where you can snuggle up in blankets and enjoy pizzas, treats including minced pieces, Christmas cake and gingerbread men, hot chocolate and mulled cider.

Thirty miles from The Ickworth Hotel, the university town sets up its ice rink on Parkers Piece, along with a carousel and fairground rides, festive food stalls and an Alpine bar.
