Woolley Grange and Other Secret Gardens of Bradford on Avon
Shh! Don’t tell anyone, but our Woolley Grange Hotel in Wiltshire is taking part in Bradford on Avon's Secret Gardens event from 2 to 6pm on Sunday 29th May 2016, with visitors also able to avail themselves of one of our scrumptious cream teas.
South-east of Bath, Bradford on Avon is a mecca for garden lovers in early summer, when several hidden sites open their gates to visitors, varying from the intimate courtyards of old weavers' cottages to extensive grounds concealing former merchants’ houses. Many have been featured in national magazines.
Secret Gardens provides a great day out for all ages, both on 29th May and on a second open day on Sunday 26th June, with some gardens hosting plant and craft stalls and children under-14 going free. If you’ve brought your family dog to our pet-friendly hotel, he or she is also welcome on a lead, at the individual garden owners’ discretion.
Those visiting Woolley Grange with kids can ask at reception for a Woolley Sheep Trail sheet – a rhyming treasure hunt around the grounds of our family-friendly hotel, and a perfect way to entertain (and exhaust!) little ones. Devised by Eliza our Head Gardener, it gives parents the perfect excuse to enjoy the gardens, which are becoming prettier and more interesting by the day as Eliza and her team work their magic.
Event passports are available from the Tourist Information Centre Westbury Gardens. The event supports the Bradford on Avon Museum Society and other charities.
See the Woolley Grange Facebook page to keep up with developments in the hotel garden.
