Here comes the summer!
The long school holidays are easy to fill with days out exploring; adventures in the sun-bathed countryside or lazy days feeling warm sand between little toes.
Taking off for a few days is a great way to break up the summer holidays. Children love exploring new destinations and there is something really special about creating family traditions and returning to much loved holiday locations year after year as your children grow.
All of our Luxury Family Hotels are conveniently situated in favourite UK holiday destinations; Cornwall, the New Forest, Suffolk, Dorset and rural Wiltshire, perfectly located for great summer adventures. When the weather is good the days slip by easily with buckets and spades and outdoor activities, play only stops when it is time to eat.
During the summer months each hotel has a fun filled program of activities organised by our crèche teams, there is something for every age and some activities the whole family can join in with!
To help you plan your summer escapades, each of our hotels have given us a top tip for a fun family day out that is just a little bit different and things to do come rain or shine- this is the UK after all.
Fowey Hall - A visit to Fowey Aquarium is a must! This quaint little building in the centre of the Fowey Town Quay was first opened in 1952 and very little has changed since then. Offering a fascinating glimpse into the marine life found around the Cornish coast, most fish are brought in by local fishermen and include native and local species. The tanks are filled with fresh seawater containing lots of interesting little sea creatures too. When you go fishing or crabbing you can look out for similar species, this is a really fun family outing.
Moonfleet Manor - Go wild in Dorset – Dorset Wildlife Trustmanages more than 42 nature reserves in Dorset to protect and connect wildlife sites across the county. Throughout the summer their visitor centres provide information and activities. Take a guided walk or follow one of the trails to discover butterflies, fossils, birds, flowers and insects.
New Park Manor- Discover the New Forest on a trusty bicycle; it’sa perfect way to explore the forest that is criss-crossed with manageable trails suitable for all ages and for bikes with toddler trailers. Forest Leisure Cycling based in the pretty village of Burley have maps for every level of cyclist; follow their recommended family routes to discover the Old Railway, the Deer Sanctuary or a special Woodland Trail. There are even recommended refreshment stops along the way.
The Ickworth– In complete contrast to the elegant surroundings of the Ickworth estate, this is a high octane, invigorating day out that will test your endurance on a 25-obstacle outdoor assault course? Suitable for children aged 7 and over (parents can join in too) the obstacle course is 1km long and you have 90 minutes to complete it. The Playground is a family day out that will leave everyone muddy, tired and extremely exhilarated.great fun and a big challenge.
Woolley Grange- Explore Bath and the surrounding area with an exciting mystery trail.These creative walking routes follow clues that take in some of the most famous points of history and heritage around the city and beyond.
